Science to Scale takes place on 18 November, the first day of Slush. It is designed for research projects preparing to turn inventions into businesses, combining investor meetings with a pitching session and discussions with scientific founder-CEOs.
The programme also includes the launch of the European Spinout Report.
Pitching places are allocated through an application process, with projects selected by an investor committee comprising Atlantic, Daphni, Maki.vc and MITO Technology. Slush lists the event as free to attend, with registration through Slush Activities.
A second programme for research institutions
The European Spinout Forum takes place on 17 November. It brings together universities and research institutes for a working day focused on commercialisation, including intellectual property transfer and the equity structures that shape new spinout companies.
Participation is curated, with institutions able to request a place through Slush Activities.
Together, the two events address different parts of the same journey: helping research institutions develop investable companies and helping emerging teams meet investors.
For researchers considering entrepreneurship, the relevant starting point is the stage of the project. Science to Scale focuses on teams approaching spinout formation, while the forum is designed for the institutions supporting them.
