Start-up grant

Support for your living costs as you become a full-time founder

The start-up grant, or starttiraha, supports you personally while your new business is getting established. It pays €37.21 per day for five days a week, approximately €800 a month before tax. Funding is initially granted for six months, with a possible extension to 12 months in total.

You must live in Finland, have the right to work as an entrepreneur, and be starting or moving into full-time entrepreneurship. Your local employment authority assesses your skills, business plan, financial calculations, and need for support.

Apply through Job Market Finland before starting full-time business activity. Payments are claimed monthly afterwards, and extensions require a separate application.

Research to Business

Turn research into a commercial opportunity

Funding supports market research, customer validation, IP protection, business-model exploration, and related applied research. At least 40% of eligible costs must go towards commercialisation preparation.
