Shared infrastructure for chip development

The project brings together VTT, industry participants and the City of Espoo. It is intended to expand access to facilities for developing and testing semiconductor technologies, alongside dedicated company cleanrooms.

The centre would build on Otaniemi’s existing Micronova environment, operated by VTT and Aalto University. Shared facilities allow companies to develop demanding technologies without establishing every part of the infrastructure themselves.

A planned investment

The reported construction cost is approximately €150 million. In December 2025, the project’s leadership said construction was intended to begin in 2026, with the builder and financier still to be announced.

The figures and timetable describe the project’s plans at that point, rather than completed facilities.
